The Indigenous Awareness Week

Being an international student, I feel shamefully ignorant when it comes to the Indigenous peoples who live in Canada. When I moved here, I did not even know that their struggles are not just history, but a complex, unsolved problem that is still present nowadays. Also, I had no idea that the Canada 150 celebrations for some people were not a joyful event, but a very painful one.

Thanks to the program I am a fellow of, I had some encounters with the Indigenous worldviews and the issues these peoples are facing today (see, for example, this documentary), and… wow, this whole experience is so eye-opening to me, that I am really feel I have to learn more.
